Testimonials

We’re extremely proud of the wonderful feedback we get from those we support.

We’ve pulled together just some of their comments for you to see the impact of what we do.

“It’s a way of connecting with other people. Purely and simply.”

“When I first went along, I didn’t know anyone else in the group.

As I arrived Andy immediately came to greet me, then introduced me to someone. And it went from there.

Thanks to Walkers & Talkers I have now made several, very good friends, and many others who are a lovely part of a network of interesting people. It’s also reconnected me with old school friends, we see each other more now, than we have in decades.

Andy is brilliant at bringing people together. He is the glue that links people from all over the city. Everyone is valued, respected and listened to.

Andrew Thomas, Walkers & Talkers member

“Andy’s vision was not just to create an event, but to build a community, and his enthusiasm, dedication, and infectious energy have been the driving forces behind its success.”
Perry Rendell, Walkers & Talkers ‘Taunton Tuesdays’ volunteer
“It’s so refreshing to be in a place where everyone feels totally safe to be yourself and speak from the heart with the ‘what is said in the room, stays in the room motto!’”
David Nash, Walkers & Talkers guest speaker
Not only is the project social in its nature, it is also physical. Participants, many lonely, isolated widowed or widowers, have the opportunity to make new friends, learn new things. People who have never exercised now enjoy a walk, there mobility has improved, there overall health is better. In charity terms, the social value of this project is immense.

The programme is a lifeline to so many.”
Adam Tutton, Walkers & Talkers member

“I’ve been entrusted with a photographic job for the group. Each week I photograph the day’s activities, edit them and post them on Facebook. It's given me a new interest in photography and I’ve needed to learn new skills and to be organised.”
Frank Britton, Walkers & Talkers volunteer
“I know through speaking with other Walkers and Talkers just how big an impact the weekly get-togethers have had on their wellbeing and the positive ripples it has created, both within the group and beyond.”
Gary Sainsbury, Walkers & Talkers member
“As one who really struggles with winter darkness and cold, especially as I am getting older, these weekly outings have become invaluable.”
Ruth Sharville, Walkers & Talkers volunteer
“We need much more of this because it brings out the best in us, all of us.”
Steve Bennett, Walkers & Talkers member
“It’s become the not to be missed weekly event for so many.”
